VICTORY. - Week 2
Week 2 Recap:
God Is for Us: A Life-Changing Truth
Introduction: Life is full of challenges, uncertainties, and unexpected twists. In those moments of doubt and struggle, it’s easy to wonder if we’re alone. But Romans 8 provides an undeniable truth: God is for us. This is not just a comforting phrase; it’s a life-altering reality that can change how we face every trial, celebrate every victory, and live each day with confidence.
The Promise That Changes Everything: The foundation of this message is simple yet profound: God is for us. Romans 8:31 says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” This is not a conditional statement—it’s a certainty. Just as we don’t question whether we need to eat when lunchtime comes, we shouldn’t question whether God is truly for us. It is an unshakable promise that holds us through life’s highs and lows.
Grace - The Ultimate Gift: Understanding grace helps us grasp how deeply God is for us. Grace is an undeserved gift, freely given. A story from Charles Stanley’s seminary days illustrates this well. His professor gave a final exam, instructing students to read through the whole test before starting. On the last page, it said, “You can take this test or simply sign your name and receive an A.” Many struggled, some got angry, and others tried to earn their grade. But the lesson was clear—grace is not earned, it’s received.
A Love Beyond Measure: Romans 8:32 reminds us, “He did not even spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all.” This short sentence encapsulates the depth of God’s love. Consider a mother who loses her son in war. Her grief cannot be summarized in a simple phrase. Likewise, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is too immense to comprehend fully. Yet, it stands as undeniable proof that God is for us.
Overcoming Doubt and Failure: One of the biggest struggles in believing that God is for us is our own failures. We know our weaknesses, our sins, and our repeated mistakes. But even the apostle Paul, who wrote much of the New Testament, admitted in Romans 7 that he struggled with sin. Yet, he moves from this dark realization into the glorious truth of Romans 8: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Living in the Assurance of His Love: If we truly grasp that God is for us, it changes everything. Like a proud parent cheering from the sidelines, He is with us in every success and struggle. We don’t have to strive to earn His love—it is already ours. He has written our names on His hand (Isaiah 49:16). He is available to us at all times, not for a price like a lunch with a billionaire, but as a free and eternal gift.
Conclusion: In a world full of doubts, failures, and hardships, one truth remains steadfast: God is for us. Whether we are on the mountaintop of victory or deep in the valley of despair, He is there. The question is not whether God is for us, but whether we will accept or reject this incredible truth. When we embrace it, our lives will
